123.09.2020   07:42

Within the framework of WPU Erayim’s project ‘Women Empowerment in Rural Areas of Kyrgyzstan’ training courses for project beneficiaries on the topic ‘Business planning, budgeting (family, enterprise) and food processing’ have been started in Mady, Shark and Kyzyl-Kyshtak rural districts of Kara-Suu district in Osh oblast.

The project is supported by the Australian Government within the framework of the Direct Aid Program (DAP). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, training courses were organized online (remotely) using the ZOOM program. The training courses were conducted by an experienced business trainer Ainazbek Tumenbaev, who was selected through an open competition.

Training courses in Kara-Suu district of Osh oblast were held in three target project areas - Kyzyl-Kyshtak, Shark and Mady rural districts from September 12 to 17, 2020. To participate in the training courses, 75 participants were selected in Kara-Suu district, 25 SHG members from each rural district. As it was planned in the project, during the training, the participants, under the trainer’s guidance have developed business plans for participation in the incentive grant program. With the help of a trainer, the participants analyzed the main directions of small and medium-sized businesses, which may have their development prospects. The following areas of small and medium-sized businesses were selected as the main perspective directions: meat processing and meat production, beekeeping, sewing, gardening and livestock development.

The training courses were interesting and useful for all participants. A member of Datkaiym SHG in Mady village, Kasieta Adykova noted the following: - “We have learned a lot about entrepreneurship, business secrets, keeping correct records and received new information about new Internet technologies for the sale and promotion of our products”.

“Improving life in the village by promoting the development of our village, solving the problems of women's employment, as well as creating and developing small and medium-sized businesses is the main goal. We hope that the knowledge gained from training will allow us to realize our business ideas. And we are grateful to the Australian Government and WPU Erayim for the opportunity provided to us to implement our business ideas and develop our village,” added Zhazgul Kozhoeva, a member of the Aktilek SHG in Kyzyl-Kyshtak village.

In connection with the epidemiological situation, the event observed sanitary standards and social distance.

It should be reminded that the project was launched at the beginning of this year, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all project activities were suspended until the epidemiological situation stabilized. The main goal of the project is to contribute to the fight against poverty (SDG 1) through the development of women's entrepreneurship and the promotion of gender equality (SDG 3) in rural areas. Within the framework of the project, it is also planned to conduct technical trainings in selected perspective directions of entrepreneurial activity.
