From 19 to 24 September of this year in Akman, Bazar-Korgon and Zharake villages of Bazar-Korgon district, two-day training courses on business planning were held within the framework of the WPU Erayim project 'Women Empowerment in Rural Areas of Kyrgyzstan'. The project is supported by the Australian Government within the framework of the Direct Aid Program (DAP).

The goal of this project is to contribute to alleviating poverty (SDG 1) through women entrepreneurship development and promoting gender equality (SDG 3) in rural areas.

In connection with the adopted restrictive measures on COVID-19 in the country, training courses were conducted remotely by an experienced trainer Ainazbek Tumenbaev. As part of the training, the training participants received theoretical knowledge of business planning and, under the guidance of a trainer, began to develop business projects in priority areas of entrepreneurship for further participation in the competition for small grants for the project. During the training, the training participants, together with the trainer, identified the priority areas of small and medium-sized businesses such as creating a greenhouse, opening a shop for preparing boorsoks, opening a sewing workshop, floriculture and opening a pharmacy.

25 people participated from each SHG Association; 75 of the three SHG Associations were planned to train 75 people. According to Kishimzhan Booronbaeva, the coordinator for SHG of WPU Erayim in Jalal-Abad oblast, according to the results of the training, it is planned to prepare several business projects from each village, which will apply for an incentive grant. In total, three incentive grants will be distributed in Bazar-Korgon district. Under the terms of the project, only one business project from each village will be supported for an incentive grant in the amount of 150 thousand soms and will be implemented jointly by local authorities.
